关于AB705的E世博ESBALL

更快达成目标

All students can now enroll in transfer level 英语 and 数学. Butte College has eliminated 分级考试s and increased 数学 and 英语 academic 支持. This change means that students will reach their goal faster.

AB 705 is a law that requires California community colleges to maximize the probability that a student will enter and complete transfer-level coursework in 英语 and 数学 within a one year timeframe.

Colleges must place students into 英语 and 数学 courses using one or more of the 后:

  • 高中课程
  • 高中成绩
  • High School Grade Point Average.

根据新法律, 你 cannot be denied entry into a transfer level 数学 and 英语 class unless the college can prove that 你 are highly unlikely to succeed.

We made these changes because we’ve realized that our classes were unintentionally 阻碍我们的学生. Too many students were getting stuck taking too many classes, and often they either ended up spending more time and money getting through classes at Butte or they’d get discouraged and drop out.

这对你不公平. You’re ready for college-level courses, and we’re ready to help 你 pass these classes. Whether 你r educational goals include higher levels of 数学ematics or 英语 or not, we want to make sure 你’re moving quickly through 你r required classes at Butte so 你 can transfer or finish a program here. 我们知道 你 can do it, and we’re changing the way we place students to make it easier for 你.

Many students are placed into math and 英语 based solely on the results of their 分级考试. With the new law, students are no longer burdened to prove they belong 在转学课程中. Instead, colleges must place students into transfer-level courses unless they can prove students are highly unlikely to succeed.

At Butte College, this means that our academic departments have made some major changes 我们提供的课程. We’re also expanding the tutoring and 支持 services available in the Center for Academic Success and imbedded in classes so that everyone can get 他们需要的帮助.

数学

Starting in Fall 2019, all students will be eligible for a transfer level 数学 course.  The math department will offer preparatory classes if students want to access them.  However, those courses will be required only for students in a BSTEM (业务 Science Technology Engineering and 数学ematics) major depending on 你r academic background.  Additional 支持s will be available in the form of tutoring and additional lab hours, all in a central location for students who need them.

英语

Starting in Fall 2019, all students will enroll in college-level 英语. 你会 have two choices: 英语 2, a traditional freshman composition course, and 英语 3, which will meet for two additional hours each week to provide 支持 for students. Courses that are below college-level 英语 will no longer be offered except through the Adult Education program.

你会 need to take our 职业生涯 and Academic Profile Tool to find out which math and 英语 classes are right for 你. It’s required before 你 can register for classes, but it’s a one-time process and should take only about five to ten minutes.

The 职业生涯 and Academic Profile tool can be completed online by going to http://placements.孤峰.edu or by walking into the 职业生涯 and Academic 评估 Center (formerly known as the 评估办公室).  We recommend that 你 take the 维塔船座 career assessment first, so 你 have a better understanding of 你r preferred Program of Study and Educational Goal.

No, 你 will not need to take a test. 你会 complete the 职业生涯 and Academic Profile 工具,而不是.  你会 have access to transfer-level courses in 英语 and 数学. 你会 receive recommendations on the level of 支持 that 你 will need to succeed in the transfer-level courses. These recommendations are based on 你r high school or college coursework, grades, and GPA or by answering a few supplemental questions.
